Numerical Investigation of a Reactivity-Controlled Compression Ignition Engine Fueled with N-Heptane and Iso-Octane

In this numerical study, the effects of premixed ratio, intake manifold pressure and air temperature on a four-cylinder, four-stroke, direct injection, low-compression-ratio gasoline engine, operated in reactivity-controlled compression ignition (RCCI) combustion mode at constant engine speed 1000 rpm, were investigated using Converge CFD software. The results analyses showed that maximum in-cylinder heat release rate (HRR) increased phase advanced depending rise both temperature. CA50 shifted by 18.5 °CA with an increment from 60 °C to 100 °C. It was observed duration dropped 44 38 upon boosting 103 kPa 140 kPa. Moreover, delay occurred increasing ratio. value recorded as 36.15 bar (at 11 aTDC) use PRF20. Additionally, content iso-octane fuel mixture increased, occurred, obtained aTDC PRF20 earliest point. While HC CO emissions reached highest values temperature, NOx soot emission detected quite low levels all these rising their addition, while PRF60 fuel, revealed control RCCI strategy is notably affected
